The castles are human towers that traditionally are building 200 years ago; there are references on the century XVIII. The build of human castles of differently sizes and differently forms in ceremonies and dances are an old tradition to the Mediterranean in the lands of Tarragona and after extended to Penedés and during the century XX in all Catalonia.
Since the 16 of November of 2010 the castles are intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
