We have a woman president of Parliament in Catalonia; she’s a hard working woman with decision and resolution. She is self confidence and she likes to make decisions after agree with it. Her name’s Núria de Gispert, and she has been choose to the ninth term with a majority. On 16 Setember 2010 the new Parliament’s Bureau was elected.
The first investiture as woman president in parliament shows that Parliament is more parity in history, with 41% of women deputies.
Núria de Gispert is a respected jurist. For 7 years, she was the Catalan Minister for Justice, though she had a 1-year break when she headed the Ministry for Public Administration between 2001 and 2002. When she went back to the Ministry of Justice in 2002, she also assumed the Ministry of Home Affairs, in charge of the Catalan Police. De Gispert is a person well regarded by all the groups. Now, de Gispert is the second authority of the country, after the Catalan President.
The Right Honourable Núria de Gispert was born on 6 April 1949, graduated in law from the University of Barcelona since 1971. She's Law Professor at ESADE, Ramon Llull University, from 2004-2005. In 2004 he awarded the gold medal of the College of Lawyers of Barcelona.
The president told:
I wish to express satisfaction, excitement and emotion that I feel as a woman to reach this position. We are more parity in the Parliament since 1980, and you will have the first woman to chair it. Also in that I feel very honored and happy. On the century XXI the women have got an image stronger in a facts and participation. But we have to fight assuming the difference how a power equal. The women contribute values closely to day after day; the women are accustomed to resolve small thinks of every day to go to work.
